Tread Lightly Caravan

This week we went to the Tread Lightly Caravan. First of all the educators introduced themselves to us. There were 6 stations and these were:- 1.Ecobike- We had to pedal the bike to generate (more than 240 volts of power) energy to power different appliances. 2. Environmental Footprint- A computer game that showed that our footprints are too big and we are over-using the earth’s resources. 3.Geckos and Vines- This was like playing Snakes and Ladder but it was about NZ plants and animals. 4.Video Microscope- Used the microscope to look at the beauty and detail of nature’s design of plants and animals. 5.My Driving Day- We had to put in our home address to calculate the CO2 (Carbon) for each journey. 6. E-waste- We looked at lots of part such as computer parts and batteries and how this is a growing problem (electronic waste). They told us how to work each station and informed us about some small things we can do to help the environment. For example we can turn off the tap while we brush our teeth. (Aaliyah D5 and Raeesah D4) To find out more check out our video.

  4. WOW planet D4, we liked how you put your slide show together, it is out of this world! It looks like you had lots of fun. We were able to identify some of the goals you showed us. Was there one goal that was more popular than the others?

  7. What a lot of energy you all used trying to boil the kettle to make my cup of tea. Imagine how hard and long you would have to pedal if you had to make a cup of tea for all the houses in your street!

  8. Hi D4, thanks for telling us about the tread lightly bus. The children in A3 were wondering what it was all about and now we know. What are some other ways we can help the environment?

  9. I enjoyed your video D4. I feel inspired to go and weed my vegetable garden. By the way, there is a garden by A4 that could do with some planting. If you would like to plant something let me know.
