Duffy Theatre

Yesterday we had the Duffy theatre show at our school. It was really funny and I bet everyone enjoyed watching them perform. The show was all about encouraging students to read and find out how books can act as friends, provide space when you are stressed(Time Out)and take you on fantastic adventures. The show was all about the journey of a book called "The Best Book In The World" D4 thinks the actors were amazing and the best actor was Scruffy. He was really hilarious and we loved the way he acted like a 5yr old (BIG) boy. We still cant believe that Scruffy was Duffys YOUNGER brother. Thankyou Duffy Theatre for coming to our school and sharing with us the importance of reading.

Tread Lightly Caravan

This week we went to the Tread Lightly Caravan. First of all the educators introduced themselves to us. There were 6 stations and these were:- 1.Ecobike- We had to pedal the bike to generate (more than 240 volts of power) energy to power different appliances. 2. Environmental Footprint- A computer game that showed that our footprints are too big and we are over-using the earth’s resources. 3.Geckos and Vines- This was like playing Snakes and Ladder but it was about NZ plants and animals. 4.Video Microscope- Used the microscope to look at the beauty and detail of nature’s design of plants and animals. 5.My Driving Day- We had to put in our home address to calculate the CO2 (Carbon) for each journey. 6. E-waste- We looked at lots of part such as computer parts and batteries and how this is a growing problem (electronic waste). They told us how to work each station and informed us about some small things we can do to help the environment. For example we can turn off the tap while we brush our teeth. Special Assembly

OUR SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

On the 3 of August 2012 we had a special assembly. At our assembly Mr. Len Brown (Mayor of Auckland) came to our school. He was a real entertainer.  While we were waiting the school leaders and Mr. Gilbert showed Len Brown around the school then they bought him in the hall where everyone was waiting for him. He gave us lots of tips about how to be a good leader. We had a lot of fun at our special assembly.
