Tread Lightly Caravan
This week we went to the Tread Lightly Caravan. First of all the educators introduced themselves to us. There were 6 stations and these were:- 1.Ecobike- We had to pedal the bike to generate (more than 240 volts of power) energy to power different appliances. 2. Environmental Footprint- A computer game that showed that our footprints are too big and we are over-using the earth’s resources. 3.Geckos and Vines- This was like playing Snakes and Ladder but it was about NZ plants and animals. 4.Video Microscope- Used the microscope to look at the beauty and detail of nature’s design of plants and animals. 5.My Driving Day- We had to put in our home address to calculate the CO2 (Carbon) for each journey. 6. E-waste- We looked at lots of part such as computer parts and batteries and how this is a growing problem (electronic waste). They told us how to work each station and informed us about some small things we can do to help the environment. For example we can turn off the tap while we brush our teeth.
